Yesterday top-ranked American Andy Roddick lived up to the legendary "le crocodile' logo that he sports on his clothes when he defeated Thomas Berdych in the finals to win the 2010 Sony Ericcson Men's Singles Championships.
History has it that the signature crocodile logo that adorns the famous Lacoste clothing line started when the press nicknamed French tennis player Rene' LaCoste "the Alligator" after a bet he made over a suitcase that was made from alligator skin. The nickname stuck since it conveyed the tenacity he displayed on the tennis court, never letting go his prey.
Lacoste was a self-made champion, a player who won world renown through sheer hard work and devoted application rather than through the benefit of natural talent. It's seems only fitting that Roddick, another hard-working and devoted player, is wearing his label today.
For his match yesterday, Roddick was wearing the Lacoste Men's Spring Tennis Polo— a super-soft lightweight polo that boasts a "super dry" wicking feature that is designed to keep moisture away from the body. The shirt features a classic fit with a ribbed knit collar and three-button placket front with pearl buttons. The shirt has printed stripes on the sleeves with a split tail hem. The signature Croc Applique is on the left chest.
For shorts, Roddick was wearing the Lacoste Men's Spring Diamante Short which are perfect both on and off the court. They feature an elastic waistband with internal drawcord, side pockets, and a signature Croc applique on lower right leg.
Add a little bit of history to your game with this Sportswear classic and maybe you too, will become a "Le Crocodile" legend.
